EMBA VILLAGE
Emba – the meaning of which is “entrance” is approximately 4km from Paphos town and is noted for its 12th century church - Panayia Chryseleousa standing in the centre of the village. A series of gold plated icons and two panels with the 12 Apostles date to the middle of the 16th century. According to history books Emba was an established village as far back as the Byzantine era which is endorsed by the ancient church of Virgin Hryseleoysis. Almost all of the walls are covered by historical and religious murals and are said to be priceless. The village of Emba is bordered by Chlorakas on the South side, Kissonerga on the Western side and Tremithousa to the East. Emba is essentially an agricultural village surrounded by fruit orchards and crop fields providing produce for the local supermarkets. It also boasts a very active theatre with many productions put on throughout the year culminating in a traditional pantomime. All essential shops and banks are available in the village along with coffee shops and, with Paphos town being close by, it is well placed for all shopping requirements.
