POLIS CHRYSOCHOUS

The attractive village of Polis Chrysochous, which means “City of Gold”, so-called because of the fertile land along the river Chrysochou, is set slightly inland along the north-west coast of the island. It has a history going back to ancient times, resting, as it does, on the site of the ancient kingdoms of Marion and Arsinoe. There are any number of real treasures from these times to be found at local archaeological sites in and around Polis and at its Archaeological Museum.

Set close to the stunningly beautiful Akamas Peninsular National Park, the whole area is a real delight for nature lovers and walkers to explore.
